I was looking at the entry list and wondered why David Porter's Swift DB2 is listed in "7BSR" instead of "7S2". Is this just an error
or is his car somehow modified?

It's an S2 as far as I know. It's Paul Tavilla's former DB2. I sent a note to Kim to correct the listing. Looks like we
will have a good crowd. This will qualify it as Club points event! Between the current listing & email's I've received, the list so far looks
like this. Is any one else coming?
Baughman / Domeck (enduro) Candler Davis Hibdon Ironside Kane Lewis Porter Sugg (enduro) Witkowski |

I was wondering the same thing! The Swift is certainly an S2 albeit with lots of (legal) trick bits originally fitted by Paul Tavilla. I will ask Jack.

The rain is gone, nice fall weather, great track. Lets get a good turn out & try for our own race group next year.

I haven't seen the car myself but if it has aluminum calipers then it would be in Group 7 as iron calipers are required to be in S2. Parts for the calipers
and new calipers meeting the rules are available. If they are iron then Jack will no doubt correct this on the entry list.
BTW, if anyone has any questions about the legality of any any item on their car or anything they are thinking about, please contact us via the link on the SRCC website.

Thanks for the leads on sourcing the required parts. The car will have the steel LD65 calipers refitted for Atlanta.

This isn't the way it was supposed to happen! | #7

Well my race weekend came to a sudden and expensive end. We made it 4 hours from home (the middle of nowhere Mississippi) when my trailer
decided to shed the right side wheels and break both axles (at 70 MPH). The good news is that my wife and I are fine, the tow vehicle is OK, but the race car
is bruised slightly (it got tossed around inside the trailer, but at least it didn't end up going over) and the trailer is toast! And it "only"
cost $600 to get it towed back to New Orleans! (what a deal). Not the way I planned my weekend to go to say the least.
I even got 2 cases of Louisiana's finest brew for the S2 party that is now sitting in my garage. I guess I will just have to bring it
to the next race (whenever I can afford to replace the $13k trailer I just destroyed).
I hope I got everyone's bad luck for the weekend and you guys have a great time. See you next year. Bill Ironside #56 HS2

So sorry, Bill! Hope you're back up and going soon. Most important that you and your wife are fine.
Nice crowd here, about ten cars. Should be good. The enduro this afternoon is popular.

Don't have the sheets, all the results should be on mylaps soon, but a great crowd and some spectacular driving here.
RJ Duffey has impressed with smooth and quick laps not far behind David Porter and Asa Candler, David Sugg is in that group with Bob Hooks nipping at his heels. Dave Baughman and Bruce Domeck were looking really good in the enduro but the star was Don Becker. Don clicked off a 31.9 after spinning on the front straight after being pinched off by a lapped car and didn't hit anything! He was visibly quicker through T1 and up the hill than anyone and David Porter, who was in the often-leading Indy Lights Lola that finished second after clutch failure, described watching Don as "magic." The team of Robert Hibdon and Don Becker finished 11th overall in a big field. Dave Sugg, Dave Baughman, Bob Hooks and Dan Wilke's team in Chip Halverson's car all did well. Ward Witkowski is replacing a crank seal. Tom Kane is going well and it's nice to see Michael Davis out in that pretty Gulf liveried DB-2. Nice group, excellent party hosted by Tom and Joanne Kane. Thanks to all who came. More soon.

The weather became unexpectedly wet all throughout Saturday, so few intrepid souls headed out. David Porter won the Group 7 Q Race overall over Rick
Carlino's pretty Chevron, but RJ Duffey and Ward Witkowski were just a trace apart in lap times as the S2's went to the fore in the damp, dank track.
Sunday dawned chilly but bright and the warmup saw Bob Hooks beat his best time of the weekend in just a few laps on the cool, quick track. The feature race was at 1PM and I needed to leave for a "Post Plunge" celebration of Butch Cone and his lovely lady's wedding in Charlotte, but I heard Asa Candler finished 2nd overall followed by RJ Duffey and Bob Hooks in third and fourth overall. Pretty sure Tom Kane was up next, sixth overall and first in HS2, then Michael Davis. Porter fell out (with a failed spark plug wire?), Hibdon and Witkowski as well. Glad to see that the weather cleared up and with temps in the mid 50's under sunny skies, the race was another good show for our cars! Let's hear it, Don, David. What happened?

Peter,
You heard correctly; it was a damn plug wire. I apologise to anyone in earshot because I well and truly lost it after I pulled in. JR and Arturo did everything short of welding the wires to the plugs and one still fell off. If anyone has experienced this problem on a DB2 and knows a cure please chime in. What a fun track that is in an S2; can't wait to get back next year. David |

I'm so sorry, David! I've not had that problem in seven years and forty cars, so I don't know what to say. Maybe Jeff Wright, David Clubine or Sugg
could chime in.
Congrats on joining our gang. It's been a great year!

David,
I'm not sure which wires you have but this applies to most. Silicone spray or silicone grease the inside of the rubber boot. When you push the wire on the boots seem to be on but they don't slide on completely, compress slightly, and then push the connector off at the worst times. Usually within the first few laps. Just silicone spray them and push them on. Rotate the boot back and forth a few times to be sure the boot has slipped on the plug all the way. Pintos have a lot of vibration and the tightest terminal connections don't seem to hold them on otherwise. I've never had one come off after using this method. Don |

Thanks Don. I will pass on to JR.
Nice job on the 31.9; I followed you in the Lights car a couple of times and you were flying. David |

plug wire popping off | #16
dpchamp87 wrote: Sometimes the boot pops-off due to air pressure build-up due to heat. One fix I had heard of was to put one of those "spray nozzle straws" (like you find with WD-40 or brake cleaner) between the boot and the plug to allow the air pressure to relieved. I would try that, or at least replacing the spark plug. |

I have seen this happen several times . It has nothing to do with the Swift . The problem is when you install the boot over the plug, air pressure
builds in the inside of the the boot . after a few laps the vibration and heat push the boot off the plug . You can actually feel the pressure or resistance when installing the boot on the plug .As said before spray a little WD-40 in the boot every now and then , problem solved . I might add that I am talking about the Taylor Blue wires . I also replace the wires every other season and always use the boot protectors . rp |

We are going to go back to the Taylor wires as they have stainless clips vs the brass on the Moroso wires. We have been using WD40...

I use the silicone grease, and it works great, and also when you put on the plug wire on, make sure they clip in to the top of the plug Jim
