The final race has run, the fat lady has sung and the 2009 VS2 Championships are in the books. Lightning was a bust, wet and Cold, only one VS2 driver made the attempt and even Die-Hard Davey C. had to pack it up by Sat. The final numbers remain unchanged thru 6. Grand Champion VS2, Season 4, 2009 is Peter Gates! Pete also headed the Vintage Class with 3 Wins in 3 starts and won the coveted Vanderbuilt Cup from EMRA. All in all a pretty good season Mr. Gates. What a great way to end the 2009 racing season- join VS2 and the Northern NJ Region SCCA on October 16-18 at the aptly named Lightning circuit at NJMP! For the bargain price of $290 you'll get 2 qualifying sessions on Friday, 2 races on Saturday, and a third race on Sunday plus food and beverages on both Friday night and Saturday night.

VS2 is expecting a great time and the turnout looks strong so everyone will be able to find an S2 to race...

Lola T492 Brake rotors and top hats

I'm racing the T492 this weekend at the Mont Tremblant Fall Festival. This morning, I suffered a failure of a rear rotor - it sheared all the mounting bolts and the rotor itself is split and it probably damaged the aluminum top hat. I'd like to attend the VRG event at the Glen in 3 weeks, so I'm desperately looking for parts. Can anybody recommend a supplier for a vented rotor and aluminum top hat? I'm not sure there are any in Canada. Thanks Walter Davies

It's hard to believe but there's only 4 weeks until VS2 heads for Watkins Glen for the SCCA "Fun One" on September 19-20th. We had a great time last year and this year's race looks even better. Here's the highlights:

With Summit Pt. the fourth race of the 09', theVS-2 Championship is 2/3 OVER! Only Watkins Glen and Lightning left . Attendance at The Pt. was POOR, only Jack Freehoff attended, but with his new engine and no competition he competed in both Sat and Sun races in a mixed class race and earned the full 10 pts. for the class win, So thru 4 the results are as follows: In Vintage with two races and 2 wins, leading the class is Peter Gates who, incidentally, won the coveted Vanderbuilt Cup...

BTW- she slept through the entire GT1 race while we're standing along the front straight! nothing like the soothing sounds of 700 hp V8 engines to put your little girl to sleep.

The first race of the VS-2 Championship at Thunderbolt is now in the record book. The points spread after 1 carries points from all 3 classes. Race winner and leader in Vintage is Peter Gates with 10 pts. Peter and his beautiful Swift won both Sat and Sun's. race, but it wasn't easy, having to battle not only with the Gernert's, Brian and Brent, but also Dr. John Galson who captured the pole for Sunday's race. The weekend started good today with nice weather . David Calafato March, Brent Gernert and Bryan Gernert sharing the Swift , Pat Phalan
Royale , Peter Gates Swift , John Galson March and Jack Freehoff Swift . Everyone made it thur the day without incident . This was the first time on the Thunderbolt track for most of us . Very busy track and using the 2nd.chicane . Very smooth track . I think it,s tricky . we are all still learning . Nice social tonight . More tomorrow .

We are pleased to officially announce that in addition to our Class Championships for 2009, our friends at Eastern Motor Racing Association (EMRA) have created a brand new Championship for VS2 this year- the EMRA Vanderbilt Cup Champion.

EMRA will award a recreation of the famed Vanderbilt Cup of motor racings early days to the overall VS2 points Champion from our two EMRA dates this year- May 29-30 at NJMP's Thunderbolt course...
